Description

Our AZDelivery MAX9814 microphone is a high quality microphone amplifier with automatic gain control (AGC) and low noise microphone bias.

The unit includes a low-noise preamplifier, a variable-gain amplifier (VGA), an output amplifier, a microphone bias circuit, a voltage generator, and an AGC control circuit. The low-noise preamplifier has a fixed gain of 12dB, while the VGA gain automatically adjusts from -20dB to 0dB.

The output amplifier offers selectable gains of 8dB, 18dB and 28dB.

Without compression, cascading the amplifiers gives a total gain of 40dB, 50dB or 60dB.

The gain of the output amplifier can be adjusted by connecting the gain terminal to GND (50dB) or VCC (40dB) or leaving it free (60dB).

Recommendation: start the MAX9814 quietly

Similarly, the attack/release ratio can be changed with the AR connection. Default setting (not connected) 1:4000, AR to VCC 1:2000, AR to GND 1:500.

Recommendation: keep basic setting (default), do not connect (NC).

Breakout board size: 26mm x 14mm x 10mm / 1" x 0.6" x 0.4".
